My desktop computer died, so I needed to copy all my data files from backup (which worked fine) and then install all the apps that I regularly run on my laptop. When I installed Thunderbird, I got the latest Release 139.02. It behaves very differently from what I think is called the "Classic View" that was running on my Desktop. I REALLY hate it, but can't figure out how to set the Thunderbird parameters to do that. My problems include:

-- Overview of Thunderbird "Views". I can't find any documentation that explains [a] the various viewing options that Thunderbird offers and [b] EXACTLY how to set them.

-- Release Notes. I haven't found any release notes to explain when/why a major change to view was done.

-- Periodically, even for same release, Thunderbird CHANGES my parameter settings. Most annoying is changing the General Message-List settings to "Show Only Display Names For People in My Address Book". I live in a retirement community where many husbands & wives share the same Email address. With this setting, Thunderbird shows the name associate with the first message I received from this Email address. So the heading doesn't show which person actually sent it (although I can make a good guess when Thunderbird is telling me it came from a dead person. [g]

Is there ANY way I can get Release 139.0.2 to display messages the way I've been seeing them for at least 10 years? I REALLY need help. (If I can't get Thunderbird to behave the way I want, seem like I might as well switch to reading/writing messages directly from Google Gmail web site. It's equally lacking in documentation, but I suppose that eventually I could figure it out.)

I'm in the process of cleaning up Thunderbird e-mail before moving to a new computer. I started with 11,593 e-mails in my Inbox and 7,799 e-mails in my Sent folder. I'm now down to 7,634 in my Inbox and 4,965 in my Sent folder. I've allocated 2 weeks for this process and found that it's taking me about 3 hours per day to meet my daily goals. I'm finding that I'm spending at LEAST half the time responding to "Empty-Trash/Compact-folders" requests. There are times I can delete 50 e-mails at a time without getting a request. Other times I will try to delete ten e-mails and get the request. With the old version of Thunderbird I could literally delete hundreds of e-mails at a time. Can you help? Russ Bukwa Yardley, PA ps. Guys, the only issue I have is that Firefox for Android can't import/export bookmarks.html. I've tested a few others, especially one called Kiwi, and even Brave. I understand that they're Chromium based, but why can't the same functionality be built into Firefox? I think that the Sync function is too limiting. Other than that, I LOVE Firefox, have used it on PC for years and have always enjoyed the experience. It's just that I use my phone to do a great many things these days, rather than using my laptop, so the bookmark import/export feature would just make it perfect for me 😊. I have a lot of Firefox windows and tabs open, and I really don't want to lose my session.

I wanted to open a webpage in Firefox in fullscreen mode. But evidently there's some kind of serious flaw in Firefox that makes it incapable of opening webpages in fullscreen mode. Everyone says the only workaround is to open the webpage in kiosk mode. So I tried it.

But now I have two big problems:

1. One of my Firefox windows, with all its tabs, is stuck in kiosk mode. (Even if I close the window and then restore it with Ctrl+Shift+T, it's still in kiosk mode.)

2. All new Firefox windows I open with Ctrl+N are also stuck in kiosk mode.

I don't know what to do, and I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

The instruction FireFox provided state that I should go to the chrome menu, i.e., the three dots. From there, FireFox instructed me to go to the passwords and autofill option, and that once I select the passwords and autofill option a link to download the passwords will appear. No link to download the passwords appeared. How do I move my passwords from chrome to FireFox?

There is a webside called Geo FS, it's flight simulator. And i really want to set side buttons on my mouse for throttle. But i cannot do it. The browser just changing web pages all the time. Is there any way to change it? If no, then devs please add a way to customise those buttons to add no action to them in the browser. Thanks.

Regarding: Thunderbird Version 128.11.1esr 　 Please tell me how to make folder pane wider than the system default width of the vertical layout. The reason of this question is that I cannot see full of folder names under the system default width.

Have just installed TB for the first time (replacing WLM) and am very happy with it. My only problem is that the option to open with a blank page is not working despite leaving the checkbox unchecked. I've tried checking and unchecking but it makes no difference, it always opens with the full setup options displayed. Is there another way to have TB open with a blank page?

When typing an email I would like to have it set so that at the start of each new sentence or paragraph it starts with a capital letter. Is there somewhere in Settings to allow me to achieve this?

I have a rule that moves email messages from backups to a 'Backup' folder. I also have another rule that moves emails address to myself to 'My Mail'.

When I start TB 128.11.1esr in the morning my 'Backup' and 'My Mail' folders show new email counts. When I click on 'My Mail' the number on it decreases and 'Backup' increases. This happens with other rules on other folders.

So, my question is this behavior caused my 'Message Filters' being triggered when I click a folder or potentially a latent refresh of the folders new email counts.

I have just updated to 140.0esr (from the 128 esr series). I have letterboxing enabled but it now does not have any top margin. Is there a way to get the top margin back, so that is looks the same it did in 128? I much prefer the letterbox being centered in the window (128) instead of being squeezed to the top (140).

After a power outage I restarted the computer and brought up Mozilla Thunderbird the email template I use and for my emails from GMail. All eamils with content from outside such as Amazon, Ebay, and other sites I use I cannot get the content to load up. I went into settings under "privacy" and clicked on allow all remote content and nothing happened. The "Option" tab on those emails is not anywhere to be seen that will allow me to click on it and from a drop down menu allow that content to be seen either.

How do I get back to content on those emails instead of the plain text that shows nothing of any content?

I just tried to change my local folders location. I first copied everything from the current location to the new location and then changed the location in the local folders settings. When I restarted, all of the folders appeared but all of the saved emails were gone. When I tried to reset the location to the original one I received the following message.

A subdirectory of the directory specified in the Local Directory setting is already used by the "jde@ehrenkrook.com" account. Please use a different directory (also attached)

How can I get all of the saved emails in the local directory to move as well?

Only in ~last two months *some* special characters and jpg images are being lost when email passed from att/Yahoo to TB. They are all present in Yahoo. Two friends using TB or Betterbird are both receiving these emails intact. My TB is set for auto update and I'm now at 128.11.1 est and there was a recent update. Problem never experienced before. What setting change could cause this? How to fix? In attached screenshot, opening quote s/b a large quote special character and image of book s/b in empty box. Thanks, Lynne
